02 Girls Season Summary

2015 was a successful year for the Crossfire 02G.  Through local play, travel and individual training camps the girls gained much experience and skill to continue their path to the next level of soccer.

Starting 2015 with two back to back WCDA tournaments was a great way to bring the team together and prepare for summer.  The girls left the of Silver State tournament in Las Vegas Nevada with a record of 2-2-0, with 8 goals for and 4 against, only to follow up with an outstanding performance in the WCDA bracket at Presidents Cup, being knocked out in the semi-final round with a 2-1 loss.

We entered Summer 2015 with a week-long residential Coerver camp that not only conditioned the girls for the league and tournament regiment to come, but improved their 1v1 skills and confidence on the ball.  League proved to be a fruit full time as the girls went through 12 games scoring 59 goals while only allowing 6 goals, 5 of which were against teams one and two years older.  They were able to work on 3 different formations on the pitch and transition between them during game play.

Our summer  tournament play consisted of two local tournaments and one travel.  The girls fell in the final match 1-0 of the Alaska Air Cup and had to except the 2nd place metal, but took home the trophy in Far North allowing only 1 goal through the 6 matches.   At the conclusion of Far North tournament the girls hopped a plane to San Diego CA to play in Albion Cup, in which their previous records put them in the top flight, where they faced top teams from Southern CA.  Due to inclement weather and field restrictions from flooding, only two group matches were played and that concluded the tournament.

Though the games and tournament was cut short the girls competed well and look forward to matching up with more California teams.

Along with improving Game play, the girls had great experiences as a team.  Locally they were able to get together for special occasions, the World Cup Final, BBQ, go bowling and many other team building activities.  While out of state they enjoyed go to amusement parks, going out to team dinners, shopping, visiting beaches, and experience rooming together.

Playing for Crossfire Alaska

Crossfire Alaska formed in 2013 as a part of a nationally recognized youth soccer partnership with the Crossfire Premier family of youth competitive clubs: Crossfire Premier, Crossfire Seattle, Crossfire Oregon and Crossfire Alaska.  The local Crossfire Alaska alliance is comprised of partnerships between Matanuska Soccer Club, 907 Premier Academy and Eclipse Soccer Club.

Crossfire AK offers progressive player development programs from the youngest ages, 3 to 4 years, to the oldest ages, 17 to 18 years, seeking to play at collegiate and professional levels.  Our junior and senior teams, U13 to U18, are part of the Crossfire family network, allowing our players to train and play with the other organizations at any time in order to further their development.  Opportunities are available for our best players to participate at the highest level that youth development in the US has to offer with the ECNL (Girls) and US Development Academy (Boys).
